ABSTRACT

Batur is the first area in Indonesia that is considered worthy of being a geopark by UNESCO. This determination is an acceleration of the progress of the nature and culture-based tourism industry that helps the welfare of the surrounding community with the principle of sustainability. This study aims to examine the role of several parties in enhancing UNESCO global geopark in Batur Bali of Indonesia as well as promoting local economic welfare. The study adopted a qualitative study with case study approach to gain a comprehensive result of the phenomenon. The qualitative content analysis and narrative analysis was used to process various information. This study focuses in UNESCO Global Geopark Batur Bali in Indonesia as the first and most successful in creating a better economic welfare primarily during and post the Covid-19 pandemic. The findings indicate that the Penta helix model can be used to develop Geopark Batur Bali and Indonesia in general in which each party plays their role in this development tourism and local economic development.

ABSTRACT

Objective: The shift from conventional to online learning activities may impact students’ performance and entrepreneurial involvement. This research investigates the role of e-learning in determining entrepreneur-ship education and entrepreneurial self-efficacy, and students’ intention on entrepreneurship. Research Design & Methods: A quantitative method with structural equation modelling using the partial least squared was implemented to understand the phenomenon. The study involved students who enrolled in online entrepreneurship education in several universities in Malang of Indonesia. Findings: The findings indicate that students’ entrepreneurship education and self-efficacy can be performed using e-learning, and it is closely linked with lecturer competence, performance expectancy, and facilitating condition. The results also show a linkage between entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial intention. This research confirms a crucial role of self-efficacy and entrepreneurship education in mediating teachers’ competence and intention for entrepreneurship. This is the first step for further investigation regarding the effect of online learning on college students’ entrepreneurial intentions. Implications & Recommendations: This study implies that lecturers need to improve their competency on how to teach entrepreneurship more meaningful and involve all of students’ psychological aspects. Further-more, in cooperation with the government, the campus can provide adequate facilities and infrastructure to support online learning. Additionally, the government can consider improving the quality of the internet network so that geographical conditions do not constrain it. Contribution & Value Added: This research provides an appropriate strategy to promote entrepreneurship education with e-learning that can be adopted during the global Covid-19 pandemic. Moreover, in a regular situation, the strategy may still enhance entrepreneurship promotion as it fosters familiarity with the use of educational technology. © 2022, Cracow University of Economics. ABSTRACT

Edutourism is a tourism development model that combines fun and recreational tourism activities while still presenting educational values that can be done outside of school. UNESCO Global Geopark Batur, Bali, is one of the leading tourist attraction locations that can be developed to support edutourism activities., The COVID-19 pandemic has limited the public’s ability to access geoparks and carry out edutourism activities. However, the number of internet users via smartphones in Indonesia continues to increase during the pandemic and encourages digital acceleration in all sectors, including education and tourism. This study aims to introduce and evaluate a mobile GIS application as a spatial data-based information media for the geopark area at UNESCO Global Geopark Batur Bali in a more exciting and informative way for edutourism. The study adopted ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) to develop and evaluate the mobile GIS application. The feature of the application provides edutourism itineraries, navigation, interpretive information, digital maps, guide route selection for users, geopark areas, geographical diversity, biodiversity, cultural diversity, tourist destinations, and geological disaster hazards map of the volcanic eruption of Batur. Additionally, the evaluation indicates that the application is categorized as appropriate to be used for edutourism purposes.

ABSTRACT

The Covid-19 pandemic has imposed the government to provide a mass restriction policy, and businesses respond to this issue by adopting technology and social media marketing. This study aims at highlighting the determinant factors affecting technology adoption, social media marketing, and business sustainability. The study involved a quantitative approach with partial least squares structural equation modeling to obtain a deep understanding of this phenomenon. The research was incorporated with small and businesses in East Java Provincial in Indonesia employing an online questionnaire. The findings show that the adoption of internet/e-business technology can be explained by perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and cost. Furthermore, it has a link between internet/e-business technology, social media marketing, and SMEs' sustainability. However, the cost variable failed in demonstrating the implementation of social media marketing by SMEs. This work strongly suggests that the adoption of internet/e-business technology and social media marketing successfully explains the mediating role between variables. Despite this work solely conducted in East Java, this research is the initial phase in a study associated with SMEs' sustainability in the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia.

ABSTRACT

The implementation of physical or social distancing during the Covid-19 pandemic has an implication on the shifting of conventional to online business activities. This study aims to explore how financial support, perceived benefits, external pressure determine social media marketing as well as understanding the role of internet and e-business technology (IEBT) that occurs in this relationship. This study adopted a quantitative study with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM)-based variance Partial Least Square (PLS), which aims to enhance understanding of the relationship between variables. The surveyed population of this study came from 123 small- and medium-sized enterprise (SME) owners in East Java of Indonesia, using an online survey and selected with the convenience random sampling method. The findings of this study indicated that the perceived benefits and external pressure have a positive effect on the adoption of IEBT. However, financial support failed in explaining SMEs’ adoption of IEBT. This study confirmed that the adoption of IEBT has successfully mediated the influence of financial support, perceived benefits, and external pressure on social media marketing. Despite the samples solely collected from East Java, this study is the first step in research related to the social media marketing in SMEs in Indonesia. © 2020.
